This privacy statement applies to the website, services and applications (the “Services”) from torbenp.com, Bookqueueapp.com, Bookqueue, Bookqueue II, Moviequeueapp.com, Moviequeue, and LibrarianBot that collect data and display these terms.
Collecting Your Information
The Services collects many kinds of information in order to operate effectively and provide you the best products, services and experiences we can. Some of this information you provide directly to us. Some of it is available from other sources that we may combine with the data we collect directly. Regardless of the source, we believe it’s important to treat that information with care and to help you maintain your privacy.
What we collect:
Search. When you conduct a search, the Services will collect the search terms you provide. We will use the search terms to search local and third party products and services, such as Amazon.com.
Queueing Books or Movies. When you queue a book or movie, we will store a subset of the product details obtained from Amazon, Goodreads, or other 3rd party services on your device. This information will be removed when the Service is removed.
SkyDrive Integration. The Services with SkyDrive integration, may store the collected content details on your SkyDrive.
Signing in. To access some Services, you will need to sign in with an e-mail address and password, which Microsoft refers to as your Microsoft account. By signing in on one Microsoft site or service, you may be automatically signed into other Microsoft sites and services that use the Microsoft account. See below for Microsoft privacy information.
Goodreads. To access Goodreads, the Services will forward the user to the Goodreads login page. Login credentials are collected and used by Goodreads only. The Services receives a token to access the user’s Goodreads shelves. The token will be stored on the user’s device for reuse. See below for Goodreads privacy information.
Amazon purchases. When you purchase Amazon products that we linked through the Services, a tracking id is provided to Amazon to identify the application that linked to the product. An example of the tracking id is as follows: d03d1c-20.
How we collect:
We use a number of methods and technologies to gather information about how you use our products and services, such as:
Web logging, which enables us to collect the standard information your browser or application sends to every web site you visit – such as your IP address, browser type and language, and the site you came from – as well as the pages you visit and the links you click while using our sites and services.
Software installed on your computer or other devices, which may send back information needed to operate, update or improve that software.
Storage and Retention:
We do not store search terms or credentials. The credentials are provided to the Microsoft account and are protected by the Microsoft account software and privacy policies. Product details stored on the device will be removed when the product is uninstalled. Product details, if any, on SkyDrive will remain in SkyDrive. Goodreads user token will be removed from the device when the Goodreads account is removed or the application is uninstalled.
How We Use Your Personal Information
The Services uses the information we collect to operate, improve and personalize the products and services we offer. Information collected through one Service may be combined with information collected through other Services to give you a more consistent and personalized experience in your interactions with us. We may also supplement this with information from other companies. For example, we may use services from other companies to help us gather additional product information to view up-to-date product details.
The Services are provided free of charge because they are supported by advertising. In order to make these services widely available, the information we collect may be used to help improve the advertisements you see by making them more relevant to you. For example, we may use search query data for the purpose of personalizing ads we display to you as you use our services or those of our advertising partners.
How We Share Your Personal Information
Except as described in this privacy statement, we won’t disclose your personal information to a third party without your consent.
Windows 8/8.1/10 Applications
Syncing application settings helps keep your app settings up-to-date across PCs and devices running the app. If you sign in to Windows 8/8.1/10 with a Microsoft account or a domain account connected to a Microsoft account, Sync Your Settings will be turned on by default and will send some of your customized settings to the cloud to keep your PCs in sync. When you sign in to Windows 8/8.1/10 on another PC or device with the same Microsoft account, the service will download and apply those settings to the additional PC or device. These settings include:
Your queue list with Product Details; and
Your settings
For security purposes, all synced settings are transmitted using SSL. Some of these settings will not be synced on your PC and devices until you add your PC to your Microsoft account as a trusted PC.
If you do not want the service to store your customized settings on Microsoft servers or to download and apply them onto PCs and devices that you use, either do not sign into Windows with a Microsoft account or a domain account connected to a Microsoft account or turn off this functionality in the “sync your settings” options of Windows 8/8.1/10.
Children
The Services makes use of third party services, such as Amazon and its content, and will not collect or supply any age information. The Services content is intended for storage and purchase by adults. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
